Dr. Melinda Combs, DVM
Veterinarian & Owner
As a Kentucky native, Dr. Combs completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Union College and continued her education at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. In 1990, she received her DVM and moved to North Alabama to begin her work as a practicing veterinarian. To fulfill the dream of having her own Veterinary hospital, she made Huntsville her home and opened Winchester Road Animal Hospital in 1996. Her special interests are in preventative care, senior wellness, behavior, nutrition and pain management. When she’s not working at the hospital, you’ll probably find her riding her horse “Doc” on a beautiful trail in the woods. Her frisky dog “Kitty” will be there too!
Dr. Lauren Aswin, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Aswin is originally from Greensboro, Alabama. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in biology from Troy University in 2017. She then went on to earn a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2021. Originally, she was practicing small animal medicine in Nashville, Tennessee, but moved to Huntsville in 2024 after meeting her husband, Buddy. She joined Winchester Road Animal Hospital in November of 2025 and has enjoyed getting to serve the local community. When not at work, Dr. Aswin likes to read, cook, and spend time with her family.
